Ever wondered what you’re doing when taking an integral of a function? And what on Earth is the washer method?
Using this app, you can graph any two functions and find the area between them. The app performs a Riemann sum calculation, one pixel width at a time, to find the area. The formula used is:
Σ f(x)*Δx
You can also rotate this area around an axis of revolution and find the volume of a solid. Similar to the area calculation, the volume is calculated by rotating thin slices of the area around an axis. The formula used is:
Σ π * ([f(x)]^2- [g(x)]^2) * Δx
In the app, you can set the orientations of the functions and the axis of revolution to either horizontal or vertical (y(x) or x(y)).
Have fun graphing!
